The Copperchase AFTN/Email Gateway application (AFMailer) an optional product which is part of the Copperchase AFGATE product range. AFMailer acts as a Gateway between the AFTN network and email.
In operation, AFMailer receives AFTN messages from the AFTN network via other standard AFGATE Port applications, re-packages them as emails and transmits them to one or more configured Mail Server Account(s).
AFMailer also reads emails from configured Mail Server Account(s), extracts the AFTN messages they contain and then submits these to the AFTN by using the standard AFGATE applications.
AFMailer uses access control lists (ACLs) to control delivery, configuration and security.
The ACL for received AFTN messages consists of the access credentials for each mail server to which the AFTN messages can be forwarded, together with a list of permitted AFTN addresses for each mail server. Each permitted AFTN address may have one or more email addresses associated with it. These are the possible email destinations for an incoming AFTN message.
The ACL for received emails consists of the access credentials for each mail server from which emails can be received, together with a list of permitted email addresses for each mail server. Each permitted email address may have one or more AFTN addresses associated with it. These are the possible AFTN destinations for an incoming email.
The access credentials for an email server consist of the mail server name, port number, user name and password, etc.. AFMailer provides a user interface to allow the configuration of these entries.
AFMailer also journals and archives messages, and records entries in the Copperchase system log as appropriate. Invalid messages may be directed to an intercept queue.
